We invite you to begin your holiday weekend on the remote shores of Cumberland Island, surrounded by history, nature, and the peaceful rhythm of island life.
Your journey begins with a scenic ferry ride aboard the Lucy R. Ferguson, our 42-foot Wesmac lobster boat, departing from the historic downtown Fernandina Beach Marina.
During the 45-minute crossing — and throughout your time on the island — you may spot dolphins, sea turtles, manatees, and perhaps even a few of the 150–200 wild horses that roam freely across Cumberland.
Upon arrival, a Greyfield staff member will greet you and your loved ones at the dock with house-made popsicles and lead you on a Welcome Tour of the inn. From there, you’ll be invited to explore the naturalist-led tours available and choose how you’d like to spend your first day on the island.

Beach Day Set-Ups offered Thursday-Sunday
(Expect things like a big shade tent, chairs, kites, boogie boards, a big ice chest, and a selection of **beverages!)
Sunrise sea turtle outing and beach clean up on Saturday, July 5
Sunrise kayaking or bike tour to Dungeness on Sunday, July 6
Lawn games after lunch (think corn hole, croquet, and bocce ball!)
A special holiday dinner menu from Chef Luke Conrad
Fireworks viewing from the boardwalk, complete with popsicles, sparklers, and adult beverages
